Bariatrics Support Group
There is strength in numbers. There is unstoppable power in partnerships. Patients preparing for bariatric surgery and those who have already had surgery are invited to partner with our professionals — psychologists, registered dietitians and nurses — to help identify and cope with issues related to dietary changes, emotional issues and body image concerns.
Participating in a Bariatrics Support Group
Weight-loss surgery is a significant milestone in a person’s life. It is when they say goodbye to their old self and welcome their new, healthier self. This transition can be difficult for some and can feel lonely for others. Participating in a support group with others who have gone through, or plan to go through, weight-loss surgery surrounds you with encouragement, support and accountability to give yourself the best chance of weight loss success. A team member from the Bariatric & Metabolic Center will join each support group meeting to answer questions, lend a helping hand and support their patients through this life-changing journey.
You get what you give in support groups. If you want to share your experience and be vulnerable about your struggles and your triumphs, then you can trust you will be met with compassion and encouragement. This group is meant to be a safe place for those on this journey to improved health to encourage one another, share tips and grow lasting relationships.
This group is comprised of a Bariatric team member and patients in various places in their journey. Some will be starting out their weight-loss journey and are looking for encouragement when the nerves kick in. Some are six months post-op and there to encourage those recovering from surgery. Regardless of where you are on your journeys, the support group is there to lift you up.
